# How to Preview Files with Quick Look in ComfortFiles

ComfortFiles is a Windows Explorer-style file manager for macOS.

Select a file and press <kbd>Space</kbd> — a full-size preview opens instantly. Press <kbd>Space</kbd> again to close it. This is macOS Quick Look, the same preview engine Finder uses, so everything that previews in Finder previews here: images, PDFs, videos, documents, code.

## Steps

1. Click a file in the list (or navigate to it with the arrow keys).
2. Press <kbd>Space</kbd> to open the preview.
3. Press <kbd>Space</kbd> or <kbd>Esc</kbd> to close it.

Quick Look works in both list and icon view.

## Why it matters for switchers

Windows Explorer's preview pane is always-on but small; Quick Look is on-demand and full-size. Give it a day — most switchers end up preferring it. It's one of the macOS behaviors ComfortFiles deliberately keeps rather than replaces.
