How to Browse Network Shares in ComfortFiles

Updated July 20, 2026

Network computers appear under Network in the ComfortFiles sidebar. Expand a computer to see its shared folders, click one, and browse it like any local folder — no detour through Finder.

Steps

  1. Expand Network in the sidebar. Computers announcing themselves on your local network appear underneath.
  2. Expand a computer to list its shares — the same list Finder would show.
  3. Click a share to open it. If it needs credentials, a Connect As… dialog asks for them.

Credentials

The Connect As dialog has a “Remember this password” option — check it and the next connection is silent. Passwords go to the macOS Keychain, not into app files.

Good to know

  • Shares behave like folders once connected: tabs, cut/paste, drag and drop, Quick Look — everything works.
  • If the network is empty (no computers announcing themselves), the Network node simply shows nothing — it stops searching rather than spinning forever.
