How to Customize Quick Access in ComfortFiles

Quick Access is the top section of the sidebar. Everything about it is editable from the sidebar itself — pin your own folders, drag rows into any order, and hide the built-in entries you don’t use. There’s no settings window to visit.

Pin a folder

Right-click any folder — in the file list or in the sidebar tree — and choose Pin to Quick access. It appears as a shortcut at the bottom of the section, marked with a small pin. The folder itself doesn’t move.

To remove one, right-click the pinned row and choose Unpin from Quick access. That deletes the shortcut only.

Reorder the rows

Drag any row up or down. The new order is remembered across relaunches.

Every row can be moved, including Recents and pinned saved searches — Recents leads the list by default because that’s the convention, not because it’s fixed there.

Hide the built-in entries

Desktop, Downloads, Documents, Pictures, Music, Movies, Applications, iCloud Drive, Trash and Recents are built in — they aren’t pins, so there’s nothing to unpin. Hide one instead:

  • Right-click the row → Hide from Quick Access.

To bring it back — or to see what’s currently hidden — right-click the Quick Access heading. The Show submenu lists every built-in entry with a checkmark next to the visible ones; click one to toggle it.

A hidden row keeps its place in your arrangement, so showing it again puts it back where it was rather than at the end.

Good to know

  • Pins and built-in entries mix freely in the order — arrange them however suits you.
  • Hiding is per-Mac and persists; nothing is deleted, and the folders stay exactly where they are on disk.
