How to Show Hidden Files in ComfortFiles

ComfortFiles shows and hides dotfiles the same way Finder does: press ⌘⇧. (Command-Shift-Period) and hidden files appear in every folder. There’s nothing to configure first — the shortcut works out of the box, and your choice is remembered.

Three ways to toggle

  • Keyboard — press ⌘⇧., exactly like Finder. Press again to hide.
  • Menu — View → Show Hidden Files. A checkmark shows the current state.
  • Settings — open Settings (⌘,) → View → Show hidden files.

All three drive the same setting, so the menu checkmark, the switch, and the shortcut always agree.

What changes

Turning it on reveals dotfiles (names starting with a period, like .gitignore or .env) and other system-hidden items in the file list and the sidebar tree. Turning it off hides them again. The change applies live to every open window and tab — no relaunch needed.

It sticks

Your choice persists across relaunches. Leave hidden files on if you work with dotfiles all day; leave it off for a cleaner list. ComfortFiles remembers what you picked.
