How to Use Tabs in ComfortFiles
Updated July 20, 2026
Press ⌘T to open a new tab. Tabs in ComfortFiles are real macOS window tabs — they group in the title bar, and you can drag files between them.
The basics
- New tab: ⌘T.
- Switch tabs: click, or the standard macOS shortcuts ⌃Tab / ⌃⇧Tab.
- Close a tab: ⌘W.
Moving files between tabs
Drag a file onto another tab’s title: the tab highlights, and dropping moves the file into the folder that tab is showing. The same works downward — drag files onto any folder in the sidebar tree.
This covers the “two Explorer windows side by side” workflow in a single window: one tab per folder, drag between them.
